Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today attended the Special Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit, in Cebu, the Philippines, witnessing the adoption of the BIMP-EAGA Vision 2035 and reaffirming ASEAN’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the subregional grouping to advance inclusive, sustainable growth, and regional competitiveness. In his remarks, SG Dr. Kao highlighted the potential for deeper ASEAN–BIMP-EAGA cooperation through stronger institutional coordination, effective joint initiatives, and enhanced capacity‑building and knowledge‑sharing. Amid global uncertainties, including the evolving situation in the Middle East, SG Dr. Kao also underscored the importance of reinforcing regional and subregional cooperation to build collective resilience and address shared challenges.
