Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today delivered Pre-Recorded Keynote Remarks at the 2025 Developing Northern Australia Conference which was held in Cairns, Australia. The event provided a platform to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation between ASEAN and Northern Australia. In his remarks, Dr. Kao affirmed ASEAN’s eagerness to deepen engagement with Australia through a more relational and collaborative approach. He took note of the Northern Australia Action Plan 2024–2029, which is anchored in six policy priorities that present clear opportunities for meaningful and practical collaboration between Northern Australia and ASEAN. He emphasized that by working together, ASEAN and Northern Australia can unlock new opportunities, address shared challenges, and shape a future that is more secure, sustainable, and prosperous for all.
